Should I file for a lawsuit?
Call an attorney who specializes in labor laws or employment law. Usually they will not charge you for an initial consultation to see if you have a case. You may have a case, but, being unemployed, you may not be able to afford a long legal fight. Also, look up "hostile work environment" and "whistle-blowers law" to see if you can find info about the specifics of your particular situation. If you were given an employment manual when you started working there, look in it for information regarding retaliation for reporting info such as abuse or neglect about a resident to the agency - you *are* required by law to report it, so their retaliation says clearly they don't want their employees following federal and state laws. I was a social worker in a nursing home and being paid by the nursing home but having to do what was best for the resident put me between a rock and a hard place so I quit.
