Kid Rock on the CMA Awards (Zac Brown Band)?

Just wondering about this because I thought the comment was way outta left field and odd, but anyway. When KR was introducing Zac Brown Band, he made a "joke" about Zac "getting too skinny and that he needed a bucket of chicken". When they panned over to the band he did not look that way at all to me, he was a husky guy. I don't know much about this band but I thought the joke was rude and insensitive. If I am missing an inside joke or something tell me. Anyone else notice this though?
