How do i get started in working for disaster relief as a nurse?

i am soon to be an lvn/lpn and my goal is to work ,primarily, for ngo/missionary/disaster relief. i have a military background in medicine so i am familiar with remote ops without much supply or support. i have worked in conflict areas and have combat experience so i am familiar with the mental endurance aspect. i see a great need for this kind of work but not much info on how to get started. i am not terribly interested in getting paid alot, in fact i will work for food as long as i am proud of what i am doing.
