Do you think I can make it? BE NICE!?

I've wanted to be singer for a long time. I noticed that there aren't very many dark skinned singers in the industry that make it far. Im not as dark as Alek Wek but I'm not light at ALL! I'm a shade or two darker than kellly rowland. does this really even matter at all? will this affect my dream? because comments people have made about my dream such as, "you'll never make it cause you're burnt" or "you look like poo" have made me feel worthless. what do yall think? please dont be insensitive!
